im proud to say that "the red paintings" were one of my fav bands at this years gold coast BIG DAY OUT!!! the reason im proud is cos they come killing it from brisbane!!! by far the most aesthetic band of the day... so all those other nuts like the hives, system of a down, chemical bros, etc etc... pull your fingers out and start performing!!!
mmmm, what does it sound like... think geishas playing violins, cello's... think guy in weird green suit which covers his dress as he screams into mic whilst on guitar, think 2 or 3 artists on stage painting on canvas, but then turn on singer while he ignores paintbrushes on his face, etc etc... eg. RAD!!! maybe ill post some more red paintings??? ... ummm, very arty, dark? maybe a bit more of a strings and male fronted version of the dresden dolls...... maybe??? lol...
Unfortunately I missed The Red Paintings when they came to Canberra in support of the new EP. So, I've heard of them, which gives the image a certain context... I can only imagine what impression the juxtaposition of these two quite incongruous elements (geisha, bass) would make on somebody who has never heard of RP. Unfortunately there still seem to be a lot of these people, especially in Australia.
The power of this photograph is that it is understated and leaves me with a tangible desire to go out and see them someday. The Red Paintings, and this photograph, are both something very special.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The photonotes.org Dictionary of Film and Digital Photography is one place to stop and get it all answered. This is quite a valuable resource that explains in depth what a photography term means, and will help those understand who might not know what something is.
